Privacy policy
(draft).

How this website handles the information you send it. Written to describe what the site actually does, which is very little.

This is a draft, not legal advice.

It accurately describes how this website currently behaves, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer and it does not attempt to cover every obligation that may apply to the business — including GDPR, CCPA or any jurisdiction where clients are located. Have it reviewed before launch.

The short version

This website has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no third-party embeds and no cookie banner, because it sets no cookies that would need one. It stores nothing about you in a database. If you send the contact form, it becomes an email.

What this site collects

If you just read the site

Nothing is collected about you by this site. No analytics service is loaded and no tracking cookie is set. The only third-party request your browser makes is to Google Fonts, which serves the two typefaces used here; Google receives your IP address as part of that request, as it would for any site using their font service.

The web server keeps standard access logs — IP address, time, page requested, browser user-agent — in the ordinary course of running a server. These are used for diagnosing faults and nothing else.

If you use the contact form

What you type into the form is sent to SKiPSWEB as an email. That is:

  • The name you give (a working name is fine)
  • Your email address
  • How you would prefer to be contacted, and a number or username if you give one
  • The project type, your current website and budget band, if you provide them
  • What you write in the message

None of it is written to a database on this website. It is validated, turned into an email, and sent. Once sent, it lives in an email account like any other message.

Cookies and similar

One cookie is set, and only if you open the contact page: a session cookie that carries the security token protecting the form against cross-site request forgery. It contains no information about you, expires when you close your browser, and exists purely so the form cannot be submitted on your behalf by another site.

Spam protection

To stop automated submissions, the site keeps a count of how many inquiries have come from your network connection in the past hour. Your IP address is not stored — it is converted to an irreversible hash, and the record is a list of timestamps that is discarded after an hour.

What is never done

  • Your details are not sold, rented or shared with anyone
  • You are not added to a mailing list
  • You are not tracked across other websites
  • Your site is not shown in the portfolio or named as a reference without your explicit permission

How long things are kept

Inquiry emails are kept for as long as is useful to the working relationship, and deleted on request. Server access logs rotate on the host's normal schedule. Rate-limit records last one hour.

Your choices

You can ask what information is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Depending on where you live you may have a legal right to these; regardless, they are available on request. Write to skip@skipsweb.com.
